Links with the Community
Fairfield Primary School, Penarth is very much a part of the community in which it is situated. The children take part in various community based sporting events, such as the Inter Primary Schools Athletic Competition which is held during the Penarth Summer Festival organised by Penarth Town Council.
The Christmas season provides opportunities for the school to be involved in the community. The children take part in the annual Christmas Tree Festival held during the Penarth Christmas Festival and Fairfield School Choir go out into the community to entertain various organisations such as Ty Gwyn Care Home.
There are also links with local businesses many of whom are very supportive of our fundraising events by providing raffle prizes for the PTA’s Christmas and Summer Fayres. They also provide opportunities for our children to visit as part of their work related studies. Children also visit local churches and the local library as part of their studies.
St. David’s Day provides a perfect opportunity to invite grandparents and members of the local community into school where the children serve refreshments and perform traditional Welsh songs, poems and folk dances. This has become a tradition in Fairfield Primary School and is very much enjoyed by those who attend.
Strong links exist with the Community Police Officer who comes in regularly to discuss a range of issues with the children and visits from members of the local Fire Service, complete with fire engine, are arranged regularly.
