Fairfield's Sports Day
'Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.' Dan Gable
The much awaited Annual Sports Day was held on Monday 11th June. The fantastic turnout from the parents and the pleasant weather were the perfect boost for the children. Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. Children in Rec to Year 2
competed in events including sprints, bat and bean bag, bean bag and obstacle races. Years 3-6 had bean bag, skipping, long distance, egg and spoon, 3 legged and sprints. Fun time with the relay and tug- of- war between the 3 teams, Dewi, Glyndwr and Llewellyn added to the enjoyment.
The Sports Display of the event showcased the skills and exercises practised by our young sports enthusiasts every day. The day ended with Ms Lewis announcing the combined totals from the Foundation Phase placings from the morning with Key stage 2 totals of the afternoon. A huge congratulations to Team Dewi the overall winners with Llewellyn placing 2nd and Glyndwr in 3rd.A BIG thank you to all staff and PTA members for their hard work through the day and lead up in organizing the event. But more importantly well done to the children who were amazing throughout- displaying great sportsmanship, patience and enthusiasm – thank you.
