To recognise the support that grandparents give to their families, Fairfield Primary School traditionally invites them to be part of the St. David’s Day celebrations.
The children, dressed in traditional Welsh costumes, rugby shirts etc., entertained their grandparents by performing their class items. They have been working hard rehearsing these and it showed as they all performed brilliantly.
The PTA served refreshments during the interval - a big thank you to members of the PTA who provided Welsh cakes and also to Waitrose in Barry for their generous donation of Welsh cakes.
The team choir competition took place after the interval with Teams Glyndwr, Llewellyn and Dewi each performing their version of Sospan Fach. Grandparents were then asked to vote for the best choir and the winning team was Team Glyndwr.
The celebrations continued in the afternoon with the children performing their class items to the whole school and the Chairing of the Bard ceremony. This year’s Bard was Gabriel Preece – Congratulations Gabriel.
